about

The morbid, film noir style tale of a detective on the trail of a murderer. This bluesy odyssey contains, surprisingly enough, elements of surf rock as well as a unique lyric style: every line alternates between two different characters' perspectives. Fun fact: our drummer is a gun nut and the gun sound effects in this song are from his personal firearm.

lyrics

Crunch of leaves, orange red, the bodies are starting to rot
Smoke screen, killer obscene, the evidence stacked in a pile
Severed arm, country barn, an animal bedding cot
Murder by scare-crows in the air, the law will bring him to trial

He’ll find me
I’ll find him

Amid the autumn fields, the bloodied corn grows
As for the mystery, only the scarecrow knows

No sleep, time to reap, a sickle in my hand
A country barn, can’t be far, finally hot on the trail
Out the back, avoid attack, a pistol in his hand
Sickled figure into the corn, I’ll catch him without fail

Now I run
Now I chase

(“Stop or I’ll shoot! ... You’re all washed up, you murderer! You know I’ve got you!”)

A clearing, a scarecrow, the stars as our ceiling
Finally see, occurs to me, the killer’s a beautiful dame!
A slice!, a bang!, I love a good killing
We both fall together, a fitting end to our game

I love you
I love you
